Let's Go Fishing
On April 15th, at Lake Chabot in Castro Valley, our VCHS Boys Baseball and Girls Softball teams, coaches, and parents, took part in a very special event called “Let’s Go Fishing”, which is organized by the staff of Outdoor Connection Ministries, and sponsored by Rotary.  For more than 20 years, Jim Grassi, master fishing instructor and Hall of Fame fisherman, has dedicated his time and love of fishing to providing special encouragement to the developmentally disabled.  Each year, by utilizing hundreds of community volunteers, including students from several surrounding high schools, Mr. Grassi and his team organize six different Special Kids Day Events for the Disabled, which impact approximately 1,500 developmentally disabled kids and young adults annually.  The program is the largest of its kind in the world.
The young men and women of our VCHS Baseball and Softball programs rose to the occasion, and displayed Godly character and loving guidance to the incredible kids and young adults they were partnered with.  It was an amazing experience for all who attended, and left all who participated with memories that  will last a lifetime.  Please take a few minutes to watch the slide show from our memorable day, which can be viewed by clicking on the link below.

All participants are required to raise a minimum amount (to be decided by this year’s JV and Varsity players). 03.18.10

3-18-10  Our Varsity team had a strong win today in their game against San Mateo High School, with a final score of 7-2.   Julian Kelly’s pitching was at its best, and our infield defense was a mighty force throughout the game, with Paul Williams at 1st, Adam Dickinson at short, Jared Vick at 3rd, and Sam Ludden at 2nd.  Anthony Pilz’ triple to centerfield was among the many highlights.

03.17.10

3-17-10: Our Varsity Baseball team is currently 5 and 4, with an awesome 3-2 victory against Mission San Jose High School this past Tuesday. Fans were treated to some great pitching by Juniors, Paul Williams and Adam Dickinson, and some fine work behind the plate by catcher Ryan Flynn, who caught two pop flies and threw a runner out at second. Adler Lietz, Zach Paulson, and Anthony Pilz were a strong force in the outfield, and Jared Vick, Julian Kelly, and Howard Wikle showed some solid offense and base running.
