2/27 Valley Christian Vikings vs. San Francisco University Red Devils
at Kezar Pavilion
The 10th ranked Vikings squared off against the number 2 ranked Red Devils of S.F. University Saturday Night at Kezar Pavilion in San Francisco. The Vikings jumped out to an early lead but were met by a tough San Francisco squad with a deep bench. The Red Devils quickly responded and led 42 to 19 at half. The Vikings came out in the second half fired up led by Zach Stilwell and Alex Lai on offense and Kevin Wolf, Michael Wolf, and James Williams defensively. The Vikings battled hard but the Red Devils ultimately prevailed – Final score Red Devils 78; Vikings 47. Congratulations to all of our seniors – Michael Wolf, Kevin Wolf, James Williams, and Alex Lai for a wonderful season and great career at Valley Christian. We wish them the best and look forward to next seasons experienced team under Coach Woodson. GO VIKINGS!

2/19 BCL East Game Playoff Valley Christian vs. College Prep
Friday Night the Valley Christian Vikings hosted the College Prep Cougars for the start of the BCL East Playoffs. The Vikings played a hard fought game, but could not beat the Cougars. The Cougars at half time were up by 6 points with the score Cougars 32, Vikings 25. The Vikings came within 2 points ending the 3rd quarter with the score Cougars 46, Vikings 44. The Vikings could not over take the Cougars – final score Cougars 68; Vikings 59. Demitrius Woodson led the team with 11 rebounds while Zach Stilwell had 4 steals. High scorer was Alex Lai with 17 points. Camryn Harris had 16 points and James Williams contributed with 14 points. Alex Lai was name All Tournament Player.

2/24 Valley Christian Vikings vs College Prep Cougars
The Valley Christian Vikings traveled to the home of the College Prep Cougars for the 1st round of the NCS Championship Play Offs. The Cougars ranked 7th, while the Vikings ranked 10th in the NCS, have played against each other 4 times earlier in the season. The Cougars beating the Vikings 3 times, while the Vikings only winning 1. The last meeting occurred 5 days ago at the BLC East Play Offs, with the Cougars coming out on top. The Vikings were fired up and ready to win this last game against the Cougars.
The Cougars were the first to score. However, the Vikings were not to give up easily. They were able to hold the Cougars to only 7 points in the 1st quarter while scoring 10 points. Both teams scored 14 points in the 2nd quarter – at half the score was Vikings 24; Cougars 21. The Vikings came out and immediately went to work. They extended their lead by 10 points during the 3rd quarter – Vikings 35, Cougars 25. The Cougars however were not done and continued to fight back. The 4th quarter was highly charged with the crowd on both sides cheering on their team. At the end of the 4th quarter the score was tied – 41 to 41. In over time the Cougars scored 2 points while the Vikings scored 7 points to win the game. Final score Vikings 48; Cougars 43. Demitrius Woodson led the team in steals with 7. James Williams had 8 rebounds. Both Demitrius Woodson and Kevin Wolf had blocks. High scorer was James Williams with 14 points followed by Demitrius Woodson with 12 points. The Vikings will now go on to the NCS Quarter Finals Saturday Night, 2/27 at Kezar Pavilion and face San Francisco University who is ranked 2nd. Go Vikings!

2/15 Valley Christian Vikings vs St. Elizabeth Mustangs
Valley Christian Vikings played their last regular season game against St. Elizabeth Mustangs Monday night in Oakland. The Vikings took the court with determination to break their on the road losing streak. It was an intensely played game by both teams right from the tip-off. Both teams left the court for half time with the score tied 27 to 27. At the beginning of the 2nd half the Vikings came out fired up and went to work scoring several unanswered baskets. The Mustangs however were not to be left behind and continued to battle for points keeping the score close. The Vikings played as a cohesive defensive team especially when they full court pressed causing several turnovers on the Mustangs part. The Vikings as a team they were able to capitalize on steals and fast breaks keeping them in the lead. Zach Stilwell had the hot hand of the night scoring 31 points for the team. He not only made all 8 of his free throws, but he also had 7 3-pointers. Final game score was Vikings 71; Mustangs 66.
The Vikings finished their regular season 9 and 3. The Vikings are now are poised to start tournament play in the BCL East Tournament which Valley Christian is hosting this Friday and Saturday. Come out and support your Men’s Varsity Basketball Team.

2/9 Valley Christian Vikings vs College Prep Cougars
The Vikings played their first of three road games against the Cougars on Tuesday, 2/9. At the end of the first half the Vikings led 30 to 20. However the Cougars came out recharged after the half and immediately started to close the scoring gap. The Vikings were unable to hold the Cougars off, even with the strong defensive plays by Demitrius Woodson. Demitrius Woodson had 10 defensive rebounds and 6 steals. The final score was Cougars 51; Vikings 48. Alex Lai was the team high scorer with 12 points, while James Williams had 11 points.
2/11 Valley Christian Vikings vs Head-Royce Jayhawks
In their second away game the Valley Christian Vikings played against Head-Royce Jayhawks, who are currently ranked number one in the league. The Vikings played a hard fought game against the Jayhawks, but were unable to defeat them. The final game score was Jayhawks 73; Vikings 42. Camryn Harris was the high scorer with 15 points. Demitrius Woodson and James Williams each contributed 8 points.
The Vikings final regular season league game is Monday, 2/15 against the Mustangs at St. Elizabeth. Hopefully the Vikings will be able to break their on the road losing streak.

Friday night Recap:
Before a jam packed house the Valley Christian Boy’s Varsity Basketball team defeated the visiting Bentley Phoenix, 54-43. With their fourth straight victory the Vikings improved their Bay Counties East league record to 8-1, just one game behind league leading Head Royce.
Playing their last regular season home game, seniors James Williams (16) and Alex Lai (8) combined for 24 points. Juniors, Camryn Harris and Zac Stillwell had 9 points apiece.
It was Senior night at Valley Christian and Valley’s four seniors, along with their parents where honored before the game. Coach Steve Huntley thanked Michael Wolf, Kevin Wolf, James Williams and Alex Lai for their contribution and dedication to VCHS basketball. It was a great night for Viking Basketball.
Next up for the Vikings is the first of three straight road games, beginning Tuesday Feb 9 at College Prep. Tip-off is 5:30.

1/28 Valley Christian Vikings vs. Redwood Christian Eagles
The Valley Christian Vikings went on the road to play the Redwood Christian Eagles Thursday, 1/28. The Vikings immediately took command of the game scoring 10 unanswered points in the first few minutes. Half time score was Vikings 23, Eagles 15. In the second half the Eagles battled their way back, however the Vikings were unstoppable. Final game score Vikings 50, Eagles 46. Demitrius Woodson led the team with 8 rebounds. Zach Stilwell contributed with 5 assists. High scorers were Camryn Harris with 21 points and James Williams with 11.
1/29 Valley Christian Vikings vs. St. Elizabeth Mustangs
The Valley Christian Vikings hosted the St. Elizabeth Mustangs Friday night. The Vikings played a tough defense causing the Mustangs to turnover the ball 13 times. James Williams led the Vikings in with 5 steals. The Vikings numerous fast breaks allowed them to out score the Mustangs throughout the game. Camryn Harris had 7 assists and Zach Stilwell had 5. Demitrius Woodson had 3 blocks along with 9 rebounds. Final game score Vikings 87; Mustangs 74.
2/2 Valley Christian Vikings vs. Athenian Owls
In an exciting basketball game that went down to the wire, the Vikings defeated Athenian, 48-46, in a BCL game played in Danville, Tuesday night.
The Vikings got off to a quick start outscoring the Owls 10-5 during the first quarter and leading 20 to 12 at the half. Camryn led the way, scoring 10 of his game high 17 points in the half.
The Vikings stretched their lead to 9 points, 35-26 as the third quarter ended. The pesky Owls refused to quit and out scored Valley 18 to 5 to grab a 44-40 lead with under two minutes to play. The Vikings kept their poise and behind some clutch shooting from Harris, James Williams and Demitrius Woodson were able to prevail.
Camryn Harris once again lead the way in scoring with 17 pts, Woodson chipped in with 12 pts and a strong defensive game.
Adam Dickinson had 8 points and a game high 13 rebounds.
The Vikings return to action on Friday night, hosting Bentley at 5:30.

1/18 Valley Christian Vikings vs. Lick-Wilmerding Tigers
Valley Christian Vikings beat Lick-Wilmerding Tigers at the Saint Elizabeth High School 4th Annual Martin Luther King Showcase. It was a high intensity game with both teams battling for the lead. At half time the Tigers were up by 4 points. The second half, the Vikings fought their back and beat the Tigers by 7 points. Final score Vikings 58, Tigers 51. On offense Demitrius Woodson scored 13 points with Zach Stilwell contributing 12. Camryn Harris had 4 assists, while James Williams and Adam Dickinson each has 3 assists. Defensively Demitrius Woodson led the team with 11 rebounds and 3 steals. Great Game Vikings.
1/23 Valley Christian Vikings vs. Marin Academy
At the 4th Annual BAC Challenge the Valley Christian Vikings took on the Marin Academy Wildcats. Early on it was apparent that this was going to be a tough fought battle between the Vikings and the Wildcats. At the end of the 1st quarter the score was tied 13 to 13. In the 2nd quarter the Wildcats were able to take the lead, outscoring the Vikings by 6 points. The Vikings came out the second half reenergized and were able to narrow the lead that the Wildcats held. However in the 4th quarter the Vikings could not stop the Wildcats. Final score Wildcats 62, Vikings 50. Josh Walters had 12 points and Jeremiah Walters scored 11 points.
1/26 Valley Christian vs. Head Royce
In a battle for first place the Vikings knew they would be in for a battle. The first quarter was a see-saw battle with both teams measuring out the opponent the Vikings had chances but struggled at the line. The quarter ended with the score 14-10.
The second quarter the Vikings made a run to get within 4 with 4 minutes remaining in the half. Then Head Royce rallied behind 6”9” Jeremiah Kreisberg and took a 22-36 lead going into the half.
Kreisburg was too much to handle in the third quarter however the Vikings never quit and Camryn Harris and Zach Stillwell hit clutch shots to keep VC close. The Vikings were down by as much as 20 points but fought back to close to within 14. A minor injury to the Head Royce star gave the Vikings hope and VC rallied to get within 10 early in the 4th quarter.
Demitri Woodson had a great defensive night against much taller opponents and the Wolf brothers and Dickinson worked hard on the boards and fast breaks. Head Royce controlled the rest of the game and eventually won by the score of 60-47. Camryn Harris led the Vikings with 14 points and Alex Lai contributed 11.

1/8/10 Valley Vikings vs Athenian Owls
The Vikings dominated the Owls at home with a fast pace game never giving the Owls a chance. The cohesive teamwork of the Vikings showed in the unselfish play with Zach Stilwell, Demitrius Woodson, James Williams, and Camryn Harris all having 3 assists. James Williams lead the team with 13 points. Demitrius Woodson led in rebounds with 12 while Michael Wolf had 5. Josh Walters had two blocks along with 3 steals. Final Score Vikings 59 Owls 19.
1/12/10 Valley Vikings vs. Bentley Phoenix
The Valley Vikings beat the Bentley Phoenix with a score of Vikings 51 Phoenix 26. James Williams led the Viking offense with 13 points, 5 assists, and 7 steals. Josh Walters, Kevin Wolf, and Jeremiah Walters pounded the boards with 12, 7, and 5 rebounds respectively. Final score Vikings 51, Phoenix 26.
1/15 Valley Vikings vs. College Prep Cougars
The Vikings continue to win as they beat the Cougars Friday night at home. Demitrius Woodson led the team in rebounds with 12 while Josh Walters had 11. Camryn Harris had 8 assists. High scorer for the team was Zach Stilwell hitting all four of his foul shots and numerous three-point shots for a total of 17 points. Final Score Vikings 56, Cougars 49

The Men's Varsity Basketball team opened up their regular season at home Tuesday evening. The Vikings played host to the Redwood Christian Eagles. The Vikings got off to a big lead early in the 1st quarter by working the ball inside for early points. The Eagles closed the gap by the end of the first half but the break only helped the Vikings to refocus and take command of the rest of the game. The team had the game in hand for the entire 2nd half as they continued working the ball inside and the guards began to find their perimeter shots falling as well. The Vikings won the game 62- 39 decisively causing many turnovers and grabbing the rebounds on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. The Vikings are off to a good start with a win at home and look to do the same at home this Friday as they host Athenian at 7pm

The Men’s Varsity Basketball Team participated in the Rincon Valley 2nd Annual Holiday Basketball Tournament over Christmas Break. The Vikings first game of the tournament was against Willits Wolverines. Adam Dickinson led the team in defensive rebounds. Zach Stilwell and James Williams led in assists. The combination of the Vikings teamwork led to a win over Willits. The final score was Vikings 45, Wolverines 37.
The Vikings next opponent was the Ferndale Wildcats. The Vikings played well with Josh Walters leading the team in rebounds. Even with tough defense and blocks by Michael Wolf and Camryn Harris the Vikings were unable to stop the Wildcats. Final score Wildcats 50, Vikings 39.
In the consolation game the Vikings faced the host tournament team, the Rincon Valley Eagles. The Vikings took an early lead in the game led by Alex Lai’s hot hand. Top rebounders were Jeremiah Walters, Demitrius Woodson and Kevin Wolf. Zach Lee contributed to the team’s win with an assist and steal. Final Score Vikings 66, Eagles 46. Alex Lai and Camryn Harris were named to the All Tournament Team. Congratulations to the Varsity Basketball team on their 3rd place win!

Friday night the Valley Christian Vikings Men’s Varsity Basketball team played a tough and physical game against The Livermore High Cowboys. The Vikings battled to keep the game close, with Demitrius Woodson hitting a 3-point shot from half court in the final seconds of the game, but lost by 1 point - Cowboys 52, Vikings 51. Camryn Harris scored 20 points and had 6 assists. Josh Walters had 11 points. Michael Wolf had 2 blocks along with 2 steals. The Varsity Basketball Team is really coming together under the coaching of Rod Woodson, Steve Huntley, and Theman Taylor.

The Vikings jumped out with a full court press and a tremendous start and took a 19-5 lead the first quarter over Kings Academy which featured a 6’8” center and a 6’5”/250 lb athletic power forward. Team defense and unselfish play enabled the Vikings to prevail over the favored Kings Academy team. The Vikings defense was lead by Woodson, Stillwell and Jeremiah Walters. The Vikings balanced offense was lead by Stillwell and Camryn H. ( 10 pts.), Josh Walters ( 11 pts,) and James W. ( 15 pts.).
The Vikings have now won 4 of their last 5 games.
