This year's Junior High Boy's Soccer team has had an excellent season. At the writing of this summary, the Vikings are 6 and 4 in league play and awaiting news for play-offs. The team has been lead by Team Captains Josh Cushman and Trenton McClure. Josh has lead the team in goals scored with nine and Trenton close behind with six. Between the two they have scored 15 of our 17 goals. Our defense has been anchored by Sam Marco, Jordan Murduch, Matthew Kadow and goal keeper Sean Scanlon. The team has continued to improve over the course of the season and is anxious to go to play-offs.

The Vikings lost their last league game of the season to San Ramon Valley Christian Academy 1 – 0 this afternoon. It was a tough battle in mid-field with only seven shots taken the entire game by both teams (5 by them, 2 by us) and only 2 corner kicks (1 by them and 1 by us). The Vikings end their regular season with 6 wins and 4 losses. We now await to hear league results and our post season schedule for Playoffs. Playoffs will take place next week with the League tournament on Saturday 3/27 on Valley’s home field.

I am VERY pleased to announce that the Vikings beat Redwood this afternoon 2-1 in very cold, rainy, windy conditions. Our boy’s showed some tremendous character and heart in this win. Josh Cushman continued to lead the scoring for the Vikings this afternoon scoring both goals. Matthew Kadow once again did an excellent job marking Redwood’s best player. Other strong contributors in the win today were James Leyva at fullback, Jack Traube at wing halfback and Jordan Murduch at center mid.

This win brings the Vikings to a 6 win 3 loss record in league play as we head into our final game of the regular season against San Ramon Valley Christian Academy next Tuesday in Danville.

I am pleased to announce that the Vikings defeated Christian Community School this afternoon 2 – 0. In spite of a last minute change in field location we managed to get there in time to complete the game before the 4:30 deadline to be off the field. The Vikings dominated play out shooting Christian Community 18 to 4.  Sean Scanlon made a couple of key saves late in the second half to protect the shutout victory. Trenton McClure scored in the first half and Josh Cushman scored late in the second half from an assist by Kyle Hanks. We host Redwood on Friday in our second to last game of the regular season. We have a 5 win 3 loss record in league play and are in third place as we enter the last two games of the season.

Our Boy’s Junior High Soccer Team defeated Fremont Christian this afternoon 1 – 0.  Trenton McClure scored an unassisted goal late in the the second half to give the Vikings their fourth win of the season. Scott Babinat informs me we are now in third place in league standings. We travel to Christian Community School on Wednesday next week for our next game.

03.02.10

The Vikings hosted North Creek Academy this afternoon and lost the game 3 – 2. North Creek went up 2 – 0 in the first half but the Vikings fought back and tied the game in the second half 2 – 2. North Creek had a corner kick within the last 3 –5 min. of the game and scored off of it.

The Vikings played a terrific game. Coming back to tie the game with two goals was a tremendous effort. The team continues to improve. North Creek beat us 4 – 1 on 2/17 and today we out shot them 9 to 6. Our defense has stabilized and is playing well. Matthew Kadow continues to step up in his role of marking our opponents best player man-to-man. Josh Cushman leads our offense, scoring half of all goals scored thus far (scoring 2 goals today). We had strong performances today from Jack Traube at mid field, Trenton McClure at forward, Sam Marco at fullback, and bench players Preston Jung and Sean Lee.

We travel to Fremont on Friday to play Fremont Christian.

Good Evening All,
The Junior High Boy’s Soccer Team lost this afternoon 1 – 0 to San Ramon Valley Christian Academy.  In spite of the loss I am very proud of our boy’s, this was a very good team. They beat North Creek Academy soundly at the beginning of this week and North Creek beat us 4 – 1 back on the 17th. To give you some idea of how close this game was, we made 5 shots on their goal and they made 7 shots on our goal. It really was a defensive battle. Sean Scanlon played and excellent game in the goal and Matthew Kadow did a good job marking their best player man-to-man.

The Vikings never backed down and worked hard to the very end of the game. I could not have asked for a better effort and attitude in this heart breaking defeat. I am very encouraged with the improvement the team is making and look forward to each game. May God continue to bless us with good health and injury free play.
