The defense held strong registering it's 6th shut-out and limiting Athenian to just 4 shots. Katie Montero continued her flawless play in goal making two crucial sure-handed saves. Avoiding the offside call that had thrawted several opportunities, Ramsey Schmitt broke through on an assist by Jenna Douvikas 30 minutes into the contest. In the second half the Lady Vikings got rolling and intesified the pressure containing much of the game in Athenians half and got it's second goal by Jenna Douvikas 14 minutes into the half. With the game being controlled by the Lady Vikings, Olivia Cunha made one of her several runs on goal with her lazer shot bouncing off of the goalie right into to the path of a fast charging Cassie Santana who sprinted onto the free ball striking it just right from 22 yards away. She was congratulated by her teammates after working hard all season long notching her first goal this year. Three games remain, all against teams they could be facing in the playoffs. Bentley 0

The Lady Vikings evened out their League record to 2-2-0 with a 4-0 victory over Bentley on Wednesday.  In so doing they moved into sole possession of 3rd place.  They wasted little time scoring starting off at the 14 minute mark off a pass from Ramsey Schmitt to Kaela Moehnle.  The staunch defense of the Vikings lead by Lauren Kershner, Rebecca Hansen, Jenn Sanchez, Olivia Cunha and goalkeeper Katie Montero neutralized Bentley's attack limiting them to just two 1st half shots on their way to posting its 3rd shut-out in a row.  The forward duo continued to put pressure on the Bentley defense and at the 24 minute mark with the high pressure defense of Ramsey Schmitt forcing an error by the defender and quickly feeding the ball to Kaela Moehnle who then raced past the defender and goalie to make it 2-0.  At the 8 minute mark in the second half, the midfield combination of Giselle Aikenhead and Jenna Douvikas struck quickly making it 3-0.  The second half was mostly played in the defensive zone of Bentley due in large part to the aggressive play of the midfielders led by Giselle Aikenhead, Katie Baron and Jenna Douvikas smothering Bentley's efforts to bring the ball up field.  Continuing its relentless attack, the excellent combination play up front with playmaker Jenna Douvikas and the accurate shooting of Ramsey Schmitt capped off the scoring midway through the second half making it 4-0.  The forwards and mids outshot Bentley (10-0) in the second half with the Lady Vikings nearly adding the 5th on Olivia Cunha's near score that was thwarted as she was pulled down by the ankle in the box late in the second half.  Congratulations Ladies Vikings!

Game Recap

The Lady Vikings improved their record to 4-2-0 for the season with an 8-0 victory over Emery High School. Due to Emery's short roster the game started with 9 players to a side. The Lady Vikings jumped to an early lead behind goals from Schmitt, Teixeira, Hansen, Douvikas, Cunha, and Baron with assists from Douvikas, Aikenhead, Santana, Pilz, and Cunha. Everyone benefited from the upbeat attitude and game sportsmanship of the players with VC shifting players around and dropping down to the minimum 7 players for most of the game. In the second half passing and crossing were highlighted as Kershner and Hansen scored off well-placed assists from Ray and Kelly. In the last two games several players broke through with their first goals of the season including in this game with a goal from Baron. Great job Lady Vikings!
