SEASON WRAP UP

The Lady Vikings ended their season with a respectable 9/4 record.  The games we lost were hard fought battles and never a shut out.  With no club players on our team I was very proud of what these girls accomplished in two months.  Our serving was the most consistent out of all the teams with only missing an average of 3 serves and one game with no misses!! Half of this team started out not even being able to get the ball to the net. Jayla Allen, Amber Allender, Josolyn Chan, Oseme Ibhawo, Rebekah Rogers and Giselle Aikenhead had serving streaks in several games Our setters Rebekah Rogers and Giselle Aikenhead are also two of the best setters amongst the freshman teams. Rebekah was chosen as an All Tournament player in the Rosemont Classic Freshman Tournament.  We played in two tournaments this year and never had the whole team present at either tournament. Regardless, the freshman team is the only team to come home with two trophies; one first for bronze and one first in silver. As I mentioned before, we were also the only team to block at this level and do so successfully on many occasions. Alex Aqua and Oseme Ibhawo "roofed" several girls. Blocks were made by Berkely Skillicorn and Tori Johnson.  Mikaela Moehnle proved not much was getting by her as a fabulous Libero.  Josolyn Chan and Alex Aqua became the go-to girls when it came to hitting and putting the ball down on the other side of the court. The whole team's passing became more consistent as we concentrated on ball control towards the latter part of the season.  The first part was just trying to get everyone to know where they were supposed to be and when!  I appreciate that this group of girls could come together on the court and play as a team at all times.  Looking forward to seeing them grow in this sport and in their spiritual lives.

God Bless

Freshman girls volleyball defeated Berkeley High School Thursday in two games. Everyone played a great game and had great plays. Oseme served 8 points in a row and several girls had kills including Oseme, Josolyn, and Tori. Mikeala hustled as libero and almost nothing got by her. Rebekah had stellar setting. I want every girl and parent to realize what talent we have on our team when we are "in the game" We have played every team now and what is evident throughout the freshman teams is, we have superb serving and only miss 2-5 serves per match. Our setting is probably the best out of all the teams with no calls being made for bad sets. We are the ONLY team who blocks at the net and is starting to even do that with success! These girls have come a long way since the beginning of the season and I am very proud of all of them!! Coach House

AFter a rough start the freshman girl's volleyball team defeated the Leadership High Shcool Pumas. In the first two games the Vikings serving dominated as the Pumas were unable to return a serve. Several points were scored by Josolyn, Giselle Aikenhead and Amber Allender. Way to go lady Vikings!!

The Freshman girls Volleyball team had success at the tournament that was held on Saturday 9/26. They were few but played with power and demonstrated fabulous teamwork and cooperation. The players were Alex Aqua, Jayla Allen, Amber Allender,Josolyn Chan,Tori Johnson. They were joined by two VCHS students so they would have six to play the tournament and also one substitute.

The competition was fierce there was only one other Freshman team competing all the others were JV. The girls rallied and did not give up they were victorious and placed first in the bronze division.

They proudly earned a plaque of first place in the Bronze division for VCHS!

A note of thanks to Coach Jaymie House, a special appreciation to Janelle Allen for driving for both tournaments and bringing food and drinks . Also Thanks to Kathy Johnson for transporting girls to and from to keep the group together the day before the tournament.

Freshman girls very first freshman tournament!! The girls played very well for their first tournament with only freshman on the team. They won their first games and even ended one game with a 15-1 victory. We were seeded one of the top 4 teams and then had a battle for the bracket play where we lost in the third game 14-16. We were down 2 players and 2 had injuries so I say pretty darn good for not having a lot of substitutions to come in! Nice job ladies!!
